Re: '57 Stepside, Big Window Project

Thanks! We picked it up at a vendor at Street Rod Nats in Louisville a while back along with other lights for the bed tubes and front turn signals. All are recessed and LED. With new LED tail lights, there should be plenty lights in the rear for people to see me from behind.

We also got the 5.3, radiator and new trans in place, bed wood stained and ready for installation in the new bed box. Waiting on new rear fenders to arrive for prep and paint. /Ken

Re: '57 Stepside, Big Window Project

Stopped by today for my weekly status check...

The bed has been finished and assembled, still waiting on new rear fenders to replace originals that needed too much body work to justify the repair costs.

Got the front bumper installed

Ordered the Vintage Air "Front Runner" system for the engine.

Re: '57 Stepside, Big Window Project

Thanks DSRAVEN...

A little more progress in the engine bay... sourcing seats now... and these snazzy valve covers to cover all the coil packs.

Any suggestions for new seats (buckets, split bench, hi vs low back)...

Re: '57 Stepside, Big Window Project

I've been leaning towards these lately. Summit has TMI for around $1000 for the Pro Sport. Im going with buckets so I can have the tap shift closer to the seats. Your Truck is looking great!

Thanks! I'm also looking at TMI. They seem to be one of the biggest in the game.

Everything I'm seeing at summit is all black.. I'm doing a saddle interior and going to paint match the seats to he interior... so I may have to go direct to TMI. /Ken

Re: '57 Stepside, Big Window Project

Been almost a year since I've had time to get on here and update y'all.

The truck is still in the shop, everything is paid for, just waiting for parts and priorities to be shifted to get the ole girl back on the road.

Just need to button up the interior with some door panels, mount the seats, alignment and mount the wheels and tires.

Has anyone here had any experience getting a LS system to fire?

I have a 2008 5.3L with the DOD now removed, new cam and lifters installed by a GM tech and a FiTech Ultimate LS injection system installed. FiTech says all their wiring is correct, but no fire to the plugs.

What might cause this?

Looks great! Did you end up going with the TMI seats (looks like). How do they feel/sit?

Cheers, Jim

Yes, Bought them direct along with the carpet and visor's. Color matched the interior with the TMI stuff. Took about 6 weeks for the deliver of TMI products. Fit perfectly without any rigging.

I believe it was Detroit Auto Glass... had it in stock. Both front and rear were available.

I'm told the body shop had no issues putting them in with new weather stripping too.

Hoping to get it out before winter sets in here in KY.

Thanks so much, looking forward to seeing it all together

Check your wiring to the ignition switch the coils and injectors need power during cranking, I made this mistake myself
