I'm late to the party, but I'm in for the rest. You've done some great work so far. Love 57s and the floating grille!

Re: slammed 57

Ok well, I saw this done on the forum and had to do it. rounded off the corners. something so little really changes the look of the tailgate end. I saw these grinder wheels at home depot last year and saw the price of one for $7.95. I thought man! that's way too much money for 1 disc. Well, I broke down and bought one and boy was I missing out all this time. It really does a nice job with finishing the welds off its like night and day compared to the other flat discs. I highly recommend them now.

I also installed these stealth tailgate latches. cool little latches

Re: slammed 57

I'm with you on the flap discs. I just found out about them a couple of years ago. I believe it was Benchmark Abrasives that did recent 10 flap disc giveaway on Facebook. May still be going on. All 10 were free but you had to pay $10 for shipping. Great deal at a buck a piece. Enjoying watching your build.

BTW, just found Benchmark is still doing the promotion: Benchmarkabrasives.com Promo Code: FREEMIX

Re: slammed 57

Well after many thoughts of which bumper to do , I decided to go with a C10 stepside rear bumper. I saw Roger over at Iron works kustoms ( which I love all his work he does) on a 54, but he did the same but with out the license plate cut out, which I would have love to do but it just wasn't practical for me to do. I thought about using a motorized flip down tag but it would have been below the scrub line. So I ended up going with a stepside C10 rear bumper flpipped it and sectioned out 3 1/2" from each side. I still need to finish welding it completely and shave the bumper bolts. Iam still not to sure if i want to raise it a inch or two so let me know your thoughts

Re: slammed 57

I really like how you did that bumper. You have a good eye for what looks good! I’d leave about an inch between the bumper and gate, but that’s just me

Re: slammed 57

That bumper looks good, it has a kind of a roll pan effect and will make the truck look lower from behind. If you are using stock tail lights I'd mock it up with them in place, it might influence your decision regarding bumper positioning. How does it look from the side?

Re: slammed 57

Finally installed the air ride ( not permanently but the sensor need to be drill and tap and adjustments to get it right, also preplanned how I want to run the air lines) made some brackets and put the compressors, one behind each steps of the bed. Went with two 3 gallon air tanks which i put one on each side between the door step and frame

Re: slammed 57

getting ready to put the exhaust in so I built some cribbing, I do have jack stands , but feel this is a safer alternative. plus I can cycle the suspension to check for Clarence issues

Re: slammed 57

Time to turn this horse crap into horse power! bought some 3" 409 stainless steel from GBE mandrel, great guys to deal with and great prices as well, also went with dynatech split flow mufflers... yes it will be loud, but they sound so good with loppy cams I will be tig welding the entire exhaust. it will be a challenge, between the pan hard par, the air bags and large differential not a lot of real state to work with...
