How to tell which tranny?

I have a '66 Camper Special with a crate 350 ('67-69) engine. Tranny looks to be stock, but what would I know? How do I tell which Tranny it is? It's leaking and I want to replace the gasket. Thought, since it will be open, I would replace the filter as well. So I need to know which transmission it is.

Re: How to tell which tranny?

Oh THANK YOU!! Looks like it might be the TH400. I'm going to print your very helpful post and go verify it.

Thanks again!

Okay... looked on the 'bay. I LOVE how inexpensive Chevy parts are! I wonder though... If the torque Converter its what's leaking, how difficult is it to replace the seal?

Re: How to tell which tranny?

To replace the front seal you'll have to separate the engine and transmission - usually by dropping the transmission. That's the hard part; once it's out, the seal is pretty easy.
