black and blue or green?

OK, what you think? Seeing as I have to buy a new steering wheel and arm rests, and am buying some 3 point belts, this is the time to change the interior color if I want to. I really loved the green seat covers I had for my white 1970 stepside that I never installed. Seeing a pic of them got me thinking. I like the blue with the black, but I have another car with a blue interior. I'm starting to go a little nutty looking at electric blue interiors. Haha.

Anyway, I'll post a poll, a pic of my truck, current interior, and green seat cover I had (and will have to repurchase...idiot!)

Re: black and blue or green?

I have always been a bit partial to green. A more subtle blue might be OK but that seat almost hurts my eyes!

I'm a big fan of green myself. A lot of people don't seem to feel the same way. Most comments from family and friends have been to keep the blue.

Re: black and blue or green?

Well, "Black and Blue" really go together hence the common phrase, where "black and green" is not so common, BUT I do love the green covers you photo'd. They do have black lines in them, so, I think I'd lean towards the green interior, especially if you could eventually tie in some green pin striping or exterior green highlights.

Re: black and blue or green?

My experience is that the blue looks and stays true a lot better. Green is often like red in that frequently different items fade at different rates and become different colors.

I can't tell if my reproduction seat cover material is incorrect or not, but my door panels might disagree with you. Haha. But, I hear what you're saying.

I am inclined at the moment to keep it blue, but we'll see what the masses say....

Re: black and blue or green?

I have had and seen black trucks with blue interior. It is very slick looking. I have never seen a green interior in a black truck. That's why I say green. Everything goes with black and I think it will look great. Hasn't happened yet, but I expect more votes for blue.

Examples: I am going black with blue on my crew cab to be different. Always have liked the combo.

Re: black and blue or green?

I haven't seen more than a handful of black and blue trucks, that's why I would keep it like it is.

It would look great with either color but a Red Gut on a Black truck is killer .

Re: black and blue or green?

Green will be hotter with the black exterior. Blue not as much. I vote red also. Helping my son-in-law build up a 72. We're going with a dark metallic grey with red interior with black and red striping and lettering

Re: black and blue or green?

That green seat cover is sharp and will really be a toned down yet catching look for your truck. My vote is going to be green .

Re: black and blue or green?

Yes, agree with Greg - in fact any of the 4 Highlander plaid colors look great with a black truck (blue, avocado, gray, orange). But black and blue or black and olive look great together. Personally, I’d stick with a Custom Deluxe style seat cover in olive with olive interior trim. For reference, the green seat cover in post 1 is the Cuatom Deluxe trim level. Your door panels are base level. The subsequent blue or green houndstooth photos are all Cheyenne Super trim level, a 71-72 thing only, but many folks retrofit to 67-70. I know I am in the minority here, but I think black with red as more of a car thing, and a bit overdone. Blue can be equally as flashy, but you just don’t see it as often, so I like the blue pretty we’ll also. Top choice for me is olive, Custom Dwluxe (cloth) vs Cheyenne Super (custom cloth - ie houndstooth) is the secondary choice, they both look great.

Re: black and blue or green?

Thanks for the comments and the votes. At the moment, after reflecting a few days, I've gotta say I'm leaning towards keeping the blue despite really liking the green. And yeah, I realized that's a CST seat cover (previous owner put it on). I half want to sell the CST cover and order a correct standard vinyl seat covers from Cars Inc. But that might just be more work than is worth it.

As a side note, I'm pretty sure my dash pad should be blue and not black, no?
