Backup/Neutral Safety Switch (1981 C10)

Need some direction. I think mine went bad. Got a new one from the local part store....but my issue is mine has only 4 prongs and all the ones i either see locally or on line have a 5th prong. Also they dont have a metal mounting bracket or any place for screws to mount to the column for that matter.

My question is can i use this one some how? Is the 5th prong for something that was added for other years? Does the plastic body of the new switch just clip to the column somehow?

Re: Backup/Neutral Safety Switch (1981 C10)

I betting your may be a stick ( Manual Trans) or your looking at wrong years option. 81-87 auto, or 85-87 Manual, 76-80 auto, 73-75 auto,
Try parts store or LMC the part is about $11 to $16 for the part.

Cool Re: Backup/Neutral Safety Switch (1981 C10)

I'm in the same boat only mine is two prongs the only connection is the green and blue wires.
Not sure something is broken off or not.
