side marker lights .. or lack thereof

I pulled the side marker lights on my 68 to work on the fenders this weekend and to my surprise they are not side marker lights at all. They are just reflectors. All of them were like that. There wasnt even a place to put a bulb in any of them . Just an area that could be cut out to put a bulb. I dont get it.

in '68 and in 69 they were optional with reflectors standard.
After 70, they all came with lights.

For 68's only a few chassis/cab models came with side marker lights from the factory. Most of them were just reflectors.

Question Side marker lights

Ok now that we have established the fact some came with..and some with out..what all does a guy need to scarf to do a decent job of makin them work..where or what wires did you splice to do a non butchered wire harness...especially if you want the fronts to blink with your turn signals? If thats been established as the proper operation..

"By the way great job on the new version of the board!"

I have a bed off a 69 that has the wiring harness on my 67. I will not use them so if you want that will take care of the bed side . It will be some time before I cut them off but let me know I will mail them to you FREE.

The blinking thing is kinda interesting. I have personally owned 2 1970 Longhorns. One 3/4 ton CST, one Custom one ton. Neither had messed up wires in this area.
The one ton don't blink.
The 3/4 ton did.

My 72 blazer's don't blink. Are they supposed to? Guess I gotta check the wires.

Some blink, some don't. I think our '70's don't and our '72s do. Not positive though.

I have a case of the stupids I guess. I never really looked to see if the front markers blink until tonight. I was wrong. My front ones blink. It'd be kinda cool if the rears did also.
