Hello All,

I have a 1974 step side & I'd like to replace my 8" x 18" rear wheels with 9.5" x 18" Ridler 695's or Boss 338's. I've done the math (back space, offset) but don't trust math alone (long story) sooo has anyone hung these puppies under their fat fenders & if so any problems..?

Don't just trust the math. You already have 8"w 18" wheels right? Put a 2x4 on the inside (or outside) & see where or if interference occurs. Adjust your dimensions according to the tape measure.

Other peoples trucks can possibly have a different set-up vs yours. I would only trust 'blind' recommendations if I could swap their combo over for validation of fit/clearances before spending the money.

Also don't compare wheels on a fleetside truck to your stepside.
Like SCOTI said,... do the measuring yourself.

Gents,
I apologize I didn't communicate better to you & I thank you for your good advice & the handy links you sent, I appreciate it. However when I said "I've done the math" that also means I've taken the measurements etc. By all accounts it should work but will be close. Since so many people come & go from this forum, I thought maybe someone might have done this set up before & could share their experience before I commit & plunk down the $$$. I promise not to compare mine to a fleetside or anything else.

One thing that will help is posting your tire width and overall height you'll be running. I know I've run 31x10.5 on my lowered (unknown flip kit but appears to be about 6" in the rear) fleet side with 4" back spacing on an 8" wheel which should be about like 4.75" back spacing on a 9.5 wheel.

I think boss is out of business so you may have trouble getting them in correct offset etc
