Saturday junkyardin' in KY

My buddy and I went to the local junkyard a few Saturdays ago. It had been a while since I had been there and couldn't remember exactly what was there related to our trucks. They are all pretty well picked over.

Wow
Nice junkyard.
Would you be so kind to PM me the location.
Are their prices reasonable?

Picked over ? I'd buy that red 67 step side in post 2 , Some of us start with trucks like those .

No kidding. That one's nicer than the one I'm driving right now.

Could you PM the address of the junk yard? I'd like to go see if any of those cabs are any better than mine.

Re: Saturday junkyardin' in KY

Carrollton! I'm from across the river, in Madison (more precisely, outside of Brooksburg, even closer to Carrollton). Haven't lived there in almost 15 years, but I like to visit the family at least once a year.

Maybe I'm spoiled after living out west, but I can imagine the condition of any sheet metal that's been sitting outside in the Ohio River Valley for years... and that condition isn't good.

I did find a '48 Plymouth sitting in the middle of the forest once, as a kid - it wasn't completely rusted to the ground yet and had obviously been there for decades, so maybe there's hope.

Yep, I'm just a few miles from Brooksburg as the crow flies. My family and I were in Durango this summer when the fires were blazing nearby, passing through on a central/western US road trip. We had a great time.

You are correct, sitting out with no windows, etc. has been hard on these trucks in this climate. Rust never sleeps!

Damn! There's my truck. Top Left. Only a year earlier, much more abused, and 1,500 miles away.

Re: Saturday junkyardin' in KY

It's mailing address is Sanders, but it's actually closer to Sparta KY. Right off exit 55 on I-71, next to Kentucky Speedway.

The Highway 1130 part of the address is correct, but I believe the real name of the road where their entrance is located is Kentucky Speedway Boulevard. I got the address I posted straight from their business card. Prior to KY Speedway being built it probably was named Crawford road (named by them - good marketing) since there was nothing else there. KY Speedway has since gobbled up most everything around that area, except for Crawford's.
