Re: Pics of the long distance project...

I got a few things to adjust/fix/want.

*drivers window will not got up and down all the way (power window motor)
*a/c (maybe vintage air or something?)
*floor mats
*better headlights (tri-bars??)
*headlight switch (works but has a short, gotta wiggle it for dash lights)
*windshield wiper motor (motor I have now works but I want 2 speeds)
*a fancy gas pedal (the big foot, maybe)
*electric fan (pusher or puller) that runs faster as the engine gets hotter?
*custom headers with cutouts (just for fun)
*some exhaust tips from a chevy dealer
*new dashboard with new gauges

*new fuel cell built and places rear of the rearend between the frame-rails

Hell I dont know what else.... Money will tell...

I almost forgot...

A sound system, driving from Ga to Ca with only the GPS voice and the one in my head was terrible, but I made it.

Re: Pics of the long distance project...

Dude ........ nice truck. I too have a steppy & love what you've done so far. I'm an old dog so EFI is OUT of the question for my upgrade but I'm impressed you went that way.

Great looking tail light choice. They look right at home. They are from ....? I'm still running the stock stuff.

Bed work is outstanding.

So far ... so good.

I'd also like to thank you for doing what you do ...... so me & my family can do what we can do - daily.

Regards.

Re: Pics of the long distance project...

The lights are from a 54 or 55 chevy. I got them off ebay. The EFI works great! I have not had any issues other than what was stated a few post back (bad gas on the road). Thank you to everyone who supports those that serve. You dont have to support the politics to support the warfighters.

Re: Pics of the long distance project...

So I have been off the site for a while, but I am back. I have been working on the truck over the past few weeks.

- new plugs and wires
- fixed that power steering leak
- got that huge speaker box out of the passenger floor and put a small box behind the seat
- had a custom shop do an inspection of the truck bumper to bumper
- over tightened the hose clamp on the gas tank (gonna have to investigate further to see if its still leaking).

Re: Pics of the long distance project...

O I almost forgot... I put a second ground strap on the truck. Now its grounded from the battery to the alternator bracket and from the bracket to the frame (just in front of the front suspension).

Re: Pics of the long distance project...

O btw, got some wheels and tires inbound to me. The lower control arms are rubbing on the front wheels. I will post some pics when I get them mounted and so on. I will hopefully sell the old wheels/tires after I survey the damage.

Re: Pics of the long distance project...

Sorry to hear that bout your dad... I have a good friend that was a sniper in Vietnam and he was treated like crap afterwords too. Sad to see and hear that our heroes went over there and put their lives on the line, many giving their lives, fighting for our country, just to get treated like crap when they return home as well.

Re: Pics of the long distance project...

Thank you all for your comments! I was able to get the wheels and tires on today. No pictures as it was dark once they were on. I am gonna have to get an alignment done. I think I need to take a hard look at those front disc brake calipers and those drums in the back (maybe a coat of something to dress them up). The lower control arms are off the rims now, so that is good. I kinda wished I went with a 18x9.5 or 18x10 in the rear, though. Its all good. I will have to post some pictures soon.
