>>> "does it ride and handle well with the leaf? I have heard otherwise from the guys selling the crossmember kits,"
How many crossmember kits you think they would sell if they didn't say stuff like that? My 57 truck has the front sub frame and leaf spring rear suspension from a 2nd gen Z/28 and guess what it drives like? you got it...... |

Re: Change of plans
You, anybody home?
Looks like I might be going with this setup. Anybody know the correct angle of the dangle on the mounts for the trailing arms? 15 - 20°?? Using the stock frame, no Z, any issues getting the center section under the bed? Coronas56, what are you doing about the torque arm? I think I want to run it, that crossmember I see in the photos of the Flat Out Engineering stuff looks like it's too close to the centerline of the axles, probably end up getting bent if any power was put to the ground. |

Re: Change of plans
I am doing one right now and I did both front and rear Corvette suspension. Should have it complete later this year. Good choice. I guess I need to get more pics of mine posted. Good luck...keep up the good work....

Re: Change of plans
Hey Corona
Nice work. I am concerned about your vette rearend, is it a Dana 36 or Dana 44 (automotive or manual corvette). I read the post history and didn't see if you mentioned this? The C4 automatic corvettes has a light duty Dana 36 and the manual transmission corvettes had the heavy duty Dana 44. The center sections interchange. The Dana 44 was also used in the Dodge Vipers. I have an 85 corvette with the stock 265 HP. I had installed a shift kit in the automatice transmission and after 4k of "spirited" driving I blewup the rear end. I replaced it with a Dana 44 and I have had no issues. Chris Last edited by 01spirit750; 03-18-2011 at 04:05 PM. |

Re: Change of plans
Yeah, the Dana 44's are getting expensive. I bought mine back in the 90's when you could still get them for a reasonable price.
Keep looking, one will turn up. |

You've inspired me to go out and buy a 88 Vette rear for my 57 pickup. |
