Power steering pump for ac delco 36-18429 Rack on Must ll kit

I have one of these steering racks rs) which are commonly used on Mustang ll kits and wondering what pump/part number to use for a PS pump.

I'm running a 350 SB & I have also seen a reference to using a GM Type 2 Pump?

Any recommendations?

You can use either pump but you may need a pressure reducer kit. Mii rack use about 300 psi less pressure than a GM pump puts out. Make sure you don't get a pump that's for Hydraboost brakes. Borgeson has the pumps , reducers and hose kits for MII to GM pump

Speedway also sells a reducer and fitting for G M pumps

use any 1970 to 2000 gm pump, they're basically all the same
you'll need the flow reducer as stated

but...

why put an oversized gm pump on a ford rack that needs the flow reducer
while my truk does have the ford rack and gm pump, if i had it to do over i'd put a ford pump on

I have a MII rack, no pump yet. Is there a particular Ford pump I should get?

I called Borgeson today. They are right in my backyard & have a reduced pressure GM pump for my rack + short or long water pump brackets, etc. (or you can buy the flow reducer/shim kit from them for your pump GM/saginaw).

I'd rather spend 30 something dollars for the reducer valve than 30 something hours trying to figure out how to cobble brackets to put a Ford pump on a GM engine. Ford even went to Saginaw pumps in later years.

Borgson makes a shim kit that you can reduce the pressure in your pump with too http://www.borgeson.com/xcart/catalo...p-1-c-133.html

I put the borgeson kit in my gm pump took 10 minutes and will allow you to set the pressure softer or firm depending how many shims are installed. easy directions

The best looking Ford pump you can find and mount up to your engine, to run off the crank pulley

Are Ford pumps aprox the same price?

mustII was 73 to 78, but most kits use the cougar rack
i'd think any mid 70s mustang or cougar pump would work fine

as for the bracket? i made all of my brackets anyway
gm, ford, mopar would be as easy as the other to fabricate
that's one way to keep cost down

2 plates, some tubing and a few bolts

Any pictures of a Ford pump, or is that Saginaw pump what Ford uses these days?
