Re: rim ?

The more backspace the more the rim tucks under the truck. So 4.75" of backspace would put your wheels out more than 5.5" would.

Re: rim ?

Ok so now would a 72 c10 with 5x5 lug rear end be wider than the same year 6 lug rear end or are they the same?

72 5-lug rears are wider vs the pre-70 6-lug units by 1.5" (.750" ea side).
Backspacing will ultimately depend on wheel width as well.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Re: rim ?

So I just measured my 72, 5 lug rear and it is dead on 64in. Could my drums be thicker than stock.

Possible.....
63-70 6-lug housings are about 62" wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface (the measurement I got when I measured my 68 housing w/5-lug Moser axles & new 71/72 drums).
