Going to look at this Ochre beauty tomorrow. Thoughts?

Hey all,

A little story about the truck and it coming about. The guy that owns it is a family friend, has bought and sold dozens of classics, very knowledgeable. Has owned a bunch of different C10's over the years. He is the third owner of this one. The man he bought it from had it 20 years and kept it garaged, rarely drove it. There is a receipt in the glove box from 1993 for an engine rebuild that documented the mileage at that time to be 112k. The family friend of course knows he can't prove its miles, but judging by the wear and tear he believes it's original. That part isn't a make or break for me anyway. I just imagine a sport rear bumper, rally wheels, a 4/6 drop, new carpet, and some scrubbing!

I found about it after he had listed it on Ebaymotors. He told me to come on over, and if I like it to make an honest offer, and if it's reasonable to him, it's mine, and he'll end the auction. He's not looking to make money, moreso looking to pass to the truck on to someone who'll be excited about it. I am excited about this one because I know the guy is a straight shooter. And it's ochre! Enough of my babbling, here's the link:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/300948333512?redirect=mobile

I know i'm not allowed to ask what it's worth. His reserve has been met so I at least know what his ball park is.

5 days to go... that's a nice truck. Hope there's not a lot of shill bidding going on so it will keep the price down.

Thanks GASoline71. Well if he likes my offer tomorrow evening, he's going to end the auction and sell it to me. He bought a 61' Impala in North Carolina and needs to go pick it up so he's just looking to open up a space in his shop for it.

I like it. It might need the engine rebuilt soon, if it hasn't been already. The hubcaps appear to be off a 76+

If the price is right, it could be a sweet little truck

As always, thanks for your input Mister-B. It'd be pretty cool to have this one because I could drive/enjoy it while also making the upgrades that I want.

Thanks for your input 67_c-30. I'm trying not to get my hopes up BUT like I said above, I can't help but imagine a sport rear bumper, new carpet, rally wheels, and an ECE drop kit on it. It has some great patina so I'd leave the paint alone for awhile. Maybe just clear coat it.

I think that's the way to go. Get a good driver, that you can ride around in and enjoy, as you fix up. That's what I did, and it has worked out well for me. I don't know how guys can go a year or more while they get a truck in driving condition. My truck was down for a couple week, as I sorted out the brakes, and I practically developed a nervous tick not being able to drive it

Looks like a nice truck, keep in mind it's a long bed and not as valuable for resale as a shortie would be; however, the long beds drive nicer, IMO.

Thank you dan42. Indeed that is what I've found in my research also. The benefit of that, is it puts a lot of long bed trucks in my price range! Lol. I'd be lying if I said I don't like the look of short beds better, but I also like long beds. And for my budget, it's more realistic.

Thanks 67swb72klb!

I don't know if it's against the forum rules, but anyone feel free to PM me what you would offer the gentleman tomorrow. If that is not proper forum decorum , please disregard. Once I have a truck to drive I will be becoming a paid member.

If hes a family friend I would think he would give you a price. You cant buy it and sell it both. Looks like a very presentable and solid truck you can enjoy right away. I cant believe his reserve was that low honestly. Good luck

That is a very nice example. I love the fact that it has no carpet. You can hide a lot of rot under carpet. I hope you get it. I know that there are a lot of nice 67-72 pick ups in Oregon and this one is very nice.

I love the color combo as well.

Sending you PM

Nice looking truck. I hope it is what you want and are able to negotiate a fair price.

Thank you for your input briank. I asked him yesterday rather frankly what he wanted for it, and he basically told me just to come check it out and offer what I'm comfortable offering and it's a fair offer he'll sell it to me. Lots of grey area in that statement, though.

Thanks for your input TBONE. That was my though about the carpet, also. Got your PM, will respond as soon as I get to a PC today. My little phone is hard to type on.
