I hit up a boneyard after work this week and after mulitple runs coming home empty handed, I finally scored a gem. I was suprised to see a really cherry 80 k5 in the yard. Started looking at it and noticed the tailgate was in great shape. Ran up to the front to check the price and to my surprise they only wanted $40 for it. Heck the tailgate band was mint and is easily worth twice that so back into the yard I went.

So my Dad and I pulled it in a half hour or so. It's a two man job for sure. Good news is that it has ZERO rust, is straight as an error and we yanked the hinges, torsion bars and cables with it. The glass was busted out of it but mine is ok. It's going to need a spray bomb white paint job to match, but it's probably going to be the nicest piece of sheetmetal on my k5.

I'll take some pics of it tomorrow. It's almost too nice for my tank. Gotta love u-pull-it yards and dry rust free parts. Funny thing was the K5 I pulled it from was a 4wd with a 250 and a three speed stick with the column shifter. Pretty rare with the 3 on the tree.
