Fall is best time to sell vehicle - get 10%-15% more
I just got an email from O'Reilly with this pitch, and a bunch of ads for car care products. Never heard this before, not sure I believe it either. "Oh oh oh.... O'Reilly." But they have successfully drilled their crappy radio jingle into my head!
Fall is one of the best times to sell a used vehicle. Between September and November, used vehicle values can rise as much as 10 to 15 percent! Make sure your vehicle is ready for any sale, from the classifieds to the auction block, with this video. Blah Blah... now buy some wax and carpet cleaner. Any validity to this? j

Definitely , If your selling a project fall gives the new owner time to build it to his specs over the winter . if it's finished and ready to rock and roll to the spring show season you sell right after the shows/ cruise in's start when everyone HAS TO HAVE A 67-72 truck .

As far as Classic cars and trucks go in the Northeast, my experience has been that spring - March - June is the best time to sell as long as they are not projects. People want to get a classic and drive it in the good weather they have been longing for during the long winter. Sell something in the fall that is done or nearly done and you have to put it in storage.

I socal the only time to not sell a project is between Thanksgiving, and Christmas. That's when I go to pick up left overs from desperate people's.
Other then that I have not much of a issue selling at other times of year. States that experience snow have a season, and it can be pretty wild. Although a friend took a C10 to Wisconsin in winter for a family visit, and sold it for absurd money at the time. |

I don't find this true at all with classics, maybe new & late models. I'm sure the sale stats go up with end of model year clearance sales. What stats are kept on the sale of classic vehicles you and I buy and sell. Who would know? Many of those may not get registered for months or years, if that's what they are counting.
Spring is the best time to sell about anything. People have a positive outlook coming out of winter, no worries of cold weather for the longest period of the year, plenty of time to enjoy that new purchase, and.... tax returns!

I find it different here in Phoenix. Hardly any classics sell in the summer, especially non ac
vehicles. If you wait till fall and they will say, you know I don't need ac. Just ask my son, who daily drives a 69 c20 with no air. He can't wait to get home and it's only 4 miles

This isn't true for me though, we've "owed" a grand or two at least the last 6 years.

Tax time is pay time for me. Spring Carlisle comes just a bit early after that for me. But I have bought vehicles there in the spring.
The way it always worked for me when I was driving what I was fixing up was get it painted just before winter came around. I never worked it where it was fresh in the Spring. Had to wait a month or so to wax and I'd be out there in the cold waxing like a nice day in Spring
