Re: My Project

Power tour is my motivation since the truck was last driven on power tour in 2005. I want to do the long haul.

Re: My Project

Bit slow the last couple of afternoons but I guess when your wiring progress seems to slow down. Did do a few trial fit ups with the rad and condensor. A/C box is mounted, battery box relocated and it has power to it now.

Re: My Project

The plans for the sound system are a double din monitor with navigation, dvd capability and back up camera. Two 10" subs, 6" mids and tweeters mounted on the doors where I weld in the small triangle at the front of the doors for the one piece windows. I dont want the booming/thumping base just a good crisp sound sytem. All Kenwood, but this will come later. I have cut out the original radio area and filled the ash tray to make room.

Sweet! I look forward to seeing it, I'll be driving my 68 Farm truck since I'm probably not going to have my Burb done in time.

Re: My Project

Looking good! You could always get some of the VHT exhaust paint in black or polished aluminum until you have the money to blast and coat it if you wanted it looking good for the tour....

Re: My Project

Not a bad idea. How well does the VHT hold up? I've been in such a crunch I hadn't thought about something like that.

How much of the power tour do you plan on making? Coming to B'ham?

That's the plan. I had planned on doing the Tour with the Burb, but that looks like it will have to wait until next year. You wouldn't happend to know where an aluminum camper shell to fit a SWB would be, would ya?

I don't think it would last for years, but would be a cheap/quick fix that would look really good for the show season until you get the chance to pull it off and give it a permanent coating. I coated a set of headers that started rusting (originally paid to have them hot coated). Gave them a quick scuff to remove any scale and shot them with the silver one. It looked just like the original coating and held up for a few months and then I sold the car so not sure how much longer it would have held up.

Re: My Project

Wow. 5 years went by quick but this project is back underway. She's in the barn with a mountain of dust but I believe she'll live. My daughter asked to drive it at her wedding so I have no choice but to finish it and make that happen.

This was such a long project and I'm still not done. It did make my daughters wedding in April so I'm going to add more pics of the build
