Anyone using one of Tobby's Transmissions?
I currently have a th350 mounted to the BBC with 3.73 gears in the rear. Not so great on the highway as this is my daily driver. I have decided to go with a 200-4r just not sure who to purchase from. I called Tobby's and he is very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. He said no way should I put a stage 1 behind a BBC because of the torque, so recommended a stage 2. Just wondering if anyone has any firsthand experience with one of his transmissions. Thx

Quote:
One of my 200-4R with a Billet Forward Drum Shaft, Hardened Stator Tube, Hardened Sun Shell, Billet 2nd Servo, Good Pump Rings, 10 vane rotor, .500" Boost Valve......Is about the same price as one of my 4L80E's. A 4L80E is a far superior transmission in every way compared to a 200-4R. It will require a stand alone controller, But......Being able to fine tune your upshifts, downshifts, & TCC scheduling from the drivers seat is worth the money spent. |

Re: Anyone using one of Tobby's Transmissions?
Tobby's stage 2 200-4r
Includes: Valve Body Blueprinted to Stage 2 Specs Blueprinted 10-Vane Pump Assembly .500 Boost Valve Updated Return Springs for Elevated Line Pressure Hardened Stator Tube New Sealing Rings Raybestos (Red) Clutches Drums Modified to Accept Extra Clutch Packs Kevlar Intermediate Band Overdrive Planetary Carrier Welded for Better Durability Billet Intermediate Servo New Washer Kit Critical Bushings Replaced Low/Reverse Sprag All Paper, Gaskets, O-rings and Lip Seals Lube Updates Endplay Set NO Core Charge Includes 12″ Lockup Convertor: 1600-1800, 1800-2025, or 2025-2200 Pre-wired for 1 Wire Lockup Looks like he welds his also. I was really leaning towards the 200 partly because of ease of swap. No mods necessary just move the crossmember back. My 454 is very mild, maybe 300-325 hp. Just looking for better fuel mileage but mostly better cruising speed on the highway. This is my daily driver. What do you get for your 200-4r? |
