Who's rolled?

Who has rolled their front fender edges and how did you do it? I don't care for the baseball bat method as it leaves a rippled effect and tends to crack the paint.

Re: Who's rolled?

Yes I've been considering that for some time now. My only reservation is the fact our fenders aren't round and not sure how it would work. Was hoping to get some real feedback from someone who has used it with success or what they are using.

Re: Who's rolled?

I have done a dead blow hammer, and a block of wood wrapped in a towel on older vehicles. Where the paint was not a concern.

It barely cracks the paint like all other options usually do. Plus I was able to bend the lip completely back. I usually painted the insides with por 15, and did it wet to seal better. A friend of mine did it with the fenders off, and sealed it with black rtv.

I never tried it on a newer vehicle, and I went slowly to avoid deforming the metal to much.

If your concerned about your paint I would use the east wood, and go slow. Do it on a hot day so the paint is more pliable along with the metal to give you the best edge on perfection.

Re: Who's rolled?

I didn't need a whole lot of room so I just cut my fender lip off, the fender still seems strong. I was afraid a fender roller wouldn't work because of the squareness of our fenders.

That's what my concern is. I'm using fender trim so cutting it off would t work for me. Maybe I should try a smaller tire. I'm running a 275 front when most are running a 245 or 255

Re: Who's rolled?

To help the paint cracking, you can run a razor blade along the front edge of the lip where it is going to bend. We used to have to do this on early Mustangs when going to a wider tire and rolling the lips.

I believe I'm dropped 5/7
I mostly rub the lip of the right fender. It's bent down the edge.

The price isn't the concern it's how well it'll work since our fenders aren't quite round.

Re: Who's rolled?

I just rolled mine today and since the lip has two layers of sheet metal it gave me some trouble. I did get a lot more clearance but it just took me longer. Im using the cheap $75 fender roller.
