Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

This old truck looks good to me, been listed for a couple of months and not sold.
Its a C-30, 4 speed, and 292.Priced a little high at $10500 but if the mileage is really 109k it might be worth a closer look.
You don't see too many like this (long stepper C30).

Update: During conversation with the seller I found out it's a 4 speed gearbox and he said he will be updating the Ad. He thought all these trucks came with 5 speed ;-)

Scrap value alone is about $400-$500. So you're getting all that for really, $500-$600. Sounds like a good deal.

Scrap is $30/T so more like $200 max. I'm finding some prices are starting to drop again for the rust buckets as they are usually in line with scrap prices in my market. $500 on that truck is ok, not much more due to rust though.

You think it's worth that because of the low mileage?

no. super well preserved "survivor" condition AND low miles gets the big bucks. just super low miles and normal "50-year old" condition... not so much.

How can I reply honestly and stay within forum guidelines? Hmmmm lessee now.... NO!!

Not convinced as to mileage either... but who knows... it cannot be proven nor disproven.

I trust that was okay.

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

That is a nice green SWB except for the body damage lol Odometer looks like it's rolled over though as none of the numbers line up & shouldn't be out of whack after only 37k, would be at 137k though.

Another 4 eyed horn!!! Camper special factory air and that bronze color in California should be fairly rust free.

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

I am always amazed how many trucks there are for sale and the condition when I look outside of road salt New England (NC, Texas, CA, AZ, etc).

Here is an example of the trucks (Sub 5k) I am seeing as I have been looking for the last year:

http://worcester.craigslist.org/cto/5403892827.html

I think it's better to buy out west and drive or ship back to my neck of the woods.
