Re: 1969 Chevy short stepside

The fuel tank fit well. I had to put 1" spacers etween mounting flange and frame rail so bottom rail of bed wouldn't smash my fuel lines.

Tonight I was able to get the cab off the frame and on a dolly.

Re: 1969 Chevy short stepside

I did not have the frame sandblasted because it looked really good just stripping the old paint off and then I painted it with a high temp chassis paint. I will work on the whole frame this weekend.

Re: 1969 Chevy short stepside

I have looked at thousands of paint jobs and colors trying to decide what I want to do with this truck and my plan is to faux patina it similar to the one in the picture.

Another member on here did the same with his truck and it turned out really good. The only thing I'm going to do different is use a red oxide primer rather than black so it looks like rust spots.

Re: 1969 Chevy short stepside

Fed ex showed up today with my gas tank from cpp and my trailing arm bushings and some door hinge pins and bushings. This morning I finished cleaning the frame all up and got it painted. I also got the trailing arms primered and painted. I also got some spacers to put the front tires on to be able to move it.

Re: 1969 Chevy short stepside

I was able to get an hour or so in tonight. I worked on putting my cab back together. Got the upper kick panels set in place and got the inner cowl piece set in place with a few spot welds. It was good to see it look like a cab again.

Re: 1969 Chevy short stepside

Did some more spot welding and set the cowl on just to remind me what it looks like lol. I had intended on using disc brakes on the rear but just couldn't justify the cost since I got all new drum brake parts for less than 200 dollars.

Re: 1969 Chevy short stepside

Haven't updated in a bit but I got the rear axles changed out and got the rear end back under the chassis and finished the drop kit on the rear. I got the frame rolling so that's a plus.

Re: 1969 Chevy short stepside

My dash only had one rust spot on it. Unfortunately, it was a pretty good one. I pulled the dash from the donor cab and cut out the piece I needed.

Re: 1969 Chevy short stepside

I used the dash out of the donor cab to cut a piece and fix mine. I welded it all in and grinded it all down and slapped some filler on it. After sanding I put some primer on it.

Re: 1969 Chevy short stepside

I cut out some sheet metal for my blank off plates and started spot welding them in.

Re: 1969 Chevy short stepside

I finally got my motor. I had plans to rebuild the 350 that came out of the truck but after pricing everything I ordered a 350 from radley Chevrolet.

Not sure why some of my pics come out sideways and some are normal because I take pics the same way every time.
