Re: Post your pics of 64-66 Panels & Subs

I don't know if anybody is interested, but if someone needs a pair of doors (I guess they're called "barn doors") I saw a pair sitting last week at the restoration shop I'm using. I'm not sure what condition they're in but from what I saw they looked to be pretty good, but I didn't see the bottom half. I'm not sure what he wants for them but they'd probably have to be picked up. They're in Winston-Salem, NC. I could help get them to Columbia, SC. If interested I can find out more and get you in touch with the owner of the doors.

Yes this is very nice I just noticed that the rear hatch and tail gate are shaved. What does your dad have to actuate the latches on these? The same as the front doors?

I've been a member for a while, but I'm not very good with computers, so this is actually my first time posting, but that's my suburban, and both doors and the tailgate are on remote. The new weatherstripping acts like a spring and pops the doors and the tailgate open enough to pull on when you hit the remote.

Re: Post your pics of 64-66 Panels & Subs

Thanks for the reply.

I'm curious though, once you unlatch the hatch and raise it, do you just activate the solenoid again to release the tailgate? Sorry for the questions, but I'm just trying to understand how you made this work.

Re: Post your pics of 64-66 Panels & Subs

Heres the 63 I had and then sold this past fall. I screwed up. It was real clean, and had a great drivetrain. It was like driving my wifes 99 suburban.

DumbDumbDumbDumb on my part...

Re: Post your pics of 64-66 Panels & Subs

As far as I know the Suburban/Panel gas tanks are not reproduced. If yours is not repairable, you might have to get a gas tank for the '69-'72 Blazers. But they do not have the indentation for the spare tire. However they will interchange.

This one is marketed as a conversion gas tank for the '63-'66 pickups, but it is a '69-'72 gas tank.

Here is basically the same kit from GMC Pauls

I used a poly gas tank from a 92 caprice wagon, added some 2" angle brackets for strength. This also increases fuel capacity to 22 Gal.
