Re: Project Rise 'N Shine

I wish the farmer kids around here would do stuff like that to their 3/4 ton trucks instead of those big bed pipes. Not that there is anything wrong with it. This is just a lot more appealing to me.

Great job!

Re: Project Rise 'N Shine

I took my frame over to my dads yesterday. Today I pulled the front clip, motor and trans. Set it in the new frame but the motor mount aren't going to work so I guess I'll give porterbuilt a call in the am and get some different ones.

Re: Project Rise 'N Shine

This weekend I got the cab set on the new frame and stabbed the motor and trans. Had to modify the passenger side motor mount for it to work but it came out ok. The 8.1 is just soo big but we made it work. We had one casualty moving the cab, I shattered the passenger side one piece window. The truck will be lower than I thought but that's a good thing!

Awesome! How hard were the seats to put in?

Re: Project Rise 'N Shine

The seats were super easy to put in but the way I did them the center console won't fold up all the way, because it's too close to the back of the cab. I did it that way so it lined up with the sliders on the other seats. But it still works ok for a small child.

Re: Project Rise 'N Shine

Thanks everyone. Paint plans are HOK Tangelo with pearl white across the top of the whole truck and tan leather interior but things could change. For the frame we are going to paint everything from porterbuilt tangelo and the frame rails gloss black. Hopefully it looks ok. I've been working on my bed sides to raise the floor 5", I hope to have them all tacked and bolted up this weekend so I can test fit the bed.

Re: Project Rise 'N Shine

Went and looked at my motor mounts after work and found that things had settled and the oil pan was touching the ground. That's not going to work, so I'll be in touch with Nate tomorrow and see if he can build me a set a little different. Got some more work done on my bed sides at lunch today. A couple more days of working on them on my lunch break and the bed should be ready for a test fit.

Re: Project Rise 'N Shine

Test fitted the bed today. I guess I need to go back to school to read a tape measure. I narrowed the rear axle a little too much, the tires rub the inner fenders. So I guess I'll just tub it a little. That just means more room for bigger later!! I love how low it is! I'm only 5'7" and I feel like I'm standing next to a sports car!!

Re: Project Rise 'N Shine

They were pretty easy to install, I put them in with the front of the track on the hump where the factory track bolted. The only thing with where I mounted them is the center console won't lift all the way up, it hits the back of the cab. It works out alright for my grand kids though.

Re: Project Rise 'N Shine

I'm using all Porterbuilt stuff. With my old frame I used 73-87 mounts but had to raise them a half inch at the frame rails.
