Locating Paint Code '88 K5

I'msure this has been asked before but...

Can anyone tell me how to locate paint code interior/exterior? I located sticker in glove box but it doesn't have BC/CC # or Uxxxx #'s at bottom.

Hint: It is a darker (?) shade of grey but I wanted to repaint entire vehicle eventually and need to paint some interior pieces now.

Any help will be greatly appreciated since I'm going "google" crazy trying to find out.

Thanks in advance for any help provided.

The paint code is a paint code... it won't say of it's base coat/clear coat...
What does "Uxxxx" mean?

Tell us what the code is that you found in the glove box.

Re: Locating Paint Code '88 K5

Can you post a pic of the SPID?

The paint code should be a two digit code followed by a "U" or an "L", like
"88U" or "91L".

The GM Heritage Center archive does not have a generic info packet for 1988 model year Blazer (they have '86, and '89).

I'll link the '87 Suburban/Blazer version which may have the same paint codes. Based on your description I'd have to go with code 90 Steel Gray Metallic.

I believe 88 was the last year for High Solid Enamel, and '89 the first year for Base Coat/Clear Coat. Your paint shop can formulate the same color in whatever style you like; when I redid my '87 pickup I asked them for the original code 72 Apple Red (formerly HSE) in BC/CC.

All I can find is a 90K and a 90U. Truck is gray with blue panel down the side. I guess each one of those numbers means one or the other, eh?

Re: Locating Paint Code '88 K5

It would be 90U (“U” = “upper”, or primary; “L” = “lower”,or secondary). Do you see a 21L or a 29L on there anywhere? That would represent the inset color.

You can go here to find the WA number: https://www.autocolorlibrary.com/

Not to be a pedant here but a pic of the SPID or the truck would be super super helpful.

YUUP! It's metallic gray alright. Some shade of blue insert panel. I just wondered what the actual paint codes were so I could order paint. Like I posted before, I'll try to get my son to put a picture up tomorrow.

Thank you all for all the help and support! Gary
