Re: ls engine mount problem

That link just went to a generic ebay search, not any products.

When you say right, do you mean driver side? Also, in what way is it off? Too far forward, inside, outside etc?

Re: ls engine mount problem

check the clamshell half that bolts to the block adapter...see if it's hitting the block right above the oil pan rail.
clearance the clamshell so it can bolt up flush to the block adapter.
that's where mine hit anyway.

are your Frame stands the SB style? I believe they need to be that type, but I"m not all that familiar with the 79

well its not hitting where you are talking about.. I measured the distance from the motor mount to the front of the transmission so that's where I set the motor mount bracket that mounts to the block so it should fit rite its the only way it will fit I used the second hole of the aluminum ls swap plated to bolt the factory 3 bolt bracket that goes over the clamshell rubber motor mount the engine set in like it is supposed to do but if you look at pic where the yellow spot is you can see that that's where the one of these motor mount bolts should be its in the left side fine I am stuck

Re: ls engine mount problem

your link above still don't work...can't see what your adapter looks like...

when I put mine in I had the motor mounts bolted to the crossmember,
I had my adapter plates and clamshells bolted to the engine...it dropped straight in and lined up perfect...its hard to tell what you got going on in the pics

Re: ls engine mount problem

I emailed speed engineering and they emailed me and said to send them back. they said they don't know what the problem is they said that they have never tried them on a chevy k20. so I have another set of plates coming from another company called jllfab so I have to wait a few more days before I get them and try them they said theres would fit the k20.

Re: ls engine mount problem

I talked to speed-engineering today and we still do not whats wrong I did send some pics to them today and when I took them I also took some of a 79 gmc c2500 2wd that I have and did notice they are different than the 4x4 the 4x4 frame motor mount brackets are bolted in from the bottom and the 2wd are bolted in to the top of the frame see pics hopefully get something figured out soon

Re: ls engine mount problem

update I got my ls engine set in my 79k20 my problem was the speed engineering mounts are used to install to 2wds not 4x4 the 2wd drive engine mounts are 17 and 1/4 from center to center and the 4x4 engine mounts are 16 and 1/4 . I bought a set of ls swap plates off ebay jjbb99 and they worked great they will work on 2wd and 4wd. when I first put them on and they measured 17 1/4 for the 2wd but these plates are made to just swap from one side to the other . so I swaped them around after I called the guy I bought them from and he told me just swap them around from one to the other and they measured 16 and 1/4 .
