Re: Hello - New Member - 1st post!!

^ x2 i like classic parts. I usually keep catalogs from all of them and compare. I would definately do so with a 3k order. I find most of the time classic parts to have the best combonation of price/quality. Though thier inventory is not as broad as LMC.

Re: Hello - New Member - 1st post!!

one more reason I order ClassicParts over Brothers on larger orders... sales tax. Brothers is in Cali, thats like 9% sales tax of an order on top of everything. in Texas you wont have that problem with either, as ClassicParts is in Kansas City...

Re: Hello - New Member - 1st post!!

I have purchased parts from Classic but the bulk of my orders are from truckandcarshop.com. I have never had an issue with them and @ $350 no shipping charges for normal items. I ordered a grill from brothers on Black Friday with a price of $60 off original but the shipping ended up being $58. I have not purchased any LMC products since the price is normally higher on all items.

Good luck....

Caddie
My '48 sat for 38 years before we found it. It did turn over. Oiled down the cylinders with marvel Mystery oil, let it soak for 2 weeks, installed new carb and points, new battery, and it FIRED RIGHT UP! Drove it all last year and ran well. I just couldn't believe it. Keep your fingers crossed. Nice project!

Re: Hello - New Member - 1st post!!

Can anyone tell me which hood emblem is correct for a '54?
I've seen both on 54's. Is #1 a V8 only emblem?

My dad's truck looks like it had #2 emblem on it before.

#1

#2

I think its a #2 emblem, that you need on a 54 model..
the other one is for a 55 and later model.. but I am not sure...

Re: Hello - New Member - 1st post!!

I've looked on several different parts sites and I'm confused...

Brothers only offers the gasket for the '54 emblem

LMC only offers a 47-53,55,56,57 emblems

Classic Parts only offers 47-53 emblems

Truck and Car Shop offers a 54, but i called and they said they
were out of stock and couldn't get anymore.

So I'm 100% confused. Looks like I may have to put the 53 on it..
