Should I be running a fuel additive?

I just replaced my intake manifold gaskets and it looked like this in the cylinder heads and intake manifold.http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1533298552

Re: Should I be running a fuel additive?

i run a small amount of marvel mystery oil in the fuel. not sure if it helps clean that but the fuel mileage is slightly better.

I didn't know you could put that in the fuel system.I have put the seafoam in the minivan once and it pepped it up a little bit so I may that a try to.

Re: Should I be running a fuel additive?

What you are seeing is from the pcv system putting oil in the intake . These ls motors are bad at it . Since you have your intake off take a good look inside and you will oil pooled in the bottom .

Has nothing to do with the fuel . Additive will not fix that . You can see where the injector has been spraying and cleaning off in the head intake runner .

There is a few ways you can combat it . Ls6 valley cover for one or a catch can. Do some searching and you will see what I am talking about .

Thanks I will have to check that out.I remember seeing someone years ago taking apart an old small block. The motor was gunked up all over inside of the intake and combustion area of the cylinder head an old man looked at it said they must have been running Pennzoil in that motor.I don't run Pennzoil but this just reminds of that.
