Re: Is it Just me ? or do any one else notice that the
I just noticed there are only nine people looking at General Discussion right now. I can remember looking on a Sunday evening and over 40 people would be on. It could be the time of year or weather but that's a low number.
I read back through this thread and I can't help myself. I just love it when Liz "explains" things to us.

Re: Is it Just me ? or do any one else notice that the
Yeah, I've been a lifetime member at Team Chevelle for years but I just don't connect over there. When they sold I had not been there in a while. It took some time to get back in.
The Tri Five forum just sold too. I seldom visit there. I'm a lifetime member of the Duramax forum but only go there if I have a question. Same with the SilveradoSS forum. Though it's far less personal, I think FB has taken it's toll.

Re: Is it Just me ? or do any one else notice that the
After rereading a lot of the pages before this one ..It sort of hit me why there might not be as much traffic on this forum as in the days I joined and even before..
I read where parts are getting harder to find for the 68-72 Chevy Trucks ..I find parts are fewer around here in the Bosie area too..Just not as many people buying and parting out like they used to be.. because maybe they are about all gone or not enough people who remembers riding in their dads old truck that were these years Chevy trucks.. One guy lives in Portland Oregon who parted out maybe hundreds of trucks ,,I haven't seen him on for a long time.. I bought a lot of parts from him ,,his name is Mel..did he run out of trucks to part out? We used to have a steady flow of parts from a forum member who lived in Montana .. or maybe South Dakota Lots and lots of 68-72 Chevy trucks for parts ( I have a old age memory slip ,but some of you know who I mean. his forum name had something to do with golf ,,like teeoff . I think ) And the newer generation of truck lovers didn't get to ride in the older Chevy trucks like so many did when this forum was brand new.. Well ,,maybe I can help some ,,but it will have to wait until I push up daisies ,,cause that is when my son takes owner ship of my 71 Chevy .. and I plan on him going here for help if and when he needs it..

Re: Is it Just me ? or do any one else notice that the
Yeah Larry. Lots of people come and go. Interests change. Projects are found to be bigger than new owners can handle. People get in the business of parting out trucks then get tired of it and some troubles associated with it. Parting trucks as a side line can take up way more of your time than intended and get out of hand. Life deals us obstacles to handle.
Randy teeitup I believe is who you are thinking of in Kansas or Iowa maybe. I haven't seen him on here in a year or two. Seems I remember he got out of the business due to a change in family situation or something. And most of the young ones these days are less into old trucks than we were, are. With all the electronic gadgetry to occupy their time why would they want to get dirty fiddling with old rusty trucks, ya know? More of their parents have their vehicles repaired for them these days than do it themselves. Some of that comes from the complexity of modern vehicles and some of that is parents don't have the time or tools to do the repairs anyway. So their kids don't learn to work on them from watching their dads, friends or family like we did. I feel we old gear heads are a dying breed. And about that there are some of our older members who have already passed on and some who are dealing with major health issues who may not post much any more but are still very interested in the truck hobby. Well, like yourself. You took some time away but found your way back and I am glad you did. I don't know what the future holds for old car/truck hobbies. So much of it is being priced out of the reach of regular old blue collar guys. I don't blame the big money collectors. I'd buy the very best I could too if I could. As the best of the old stuff is bought up it only leaves the ones needing more work to restore than many can afford or are willing to put in. Anyway that's the way I see it.

I'm wasn't around a while due to health issues. But I'm feeling better and getting better so I'm around a little more each day. Damn near had a heart attack when I got my bill from Stanford but I survived that too. LOL

I don't know boys. If you go to FB and look at all the truck pages you will find the truck guys are over there.

Re: Is it Just me ? or do any one else notice that the
I have been around since 2003 and was very active until about 2013. I was not posting much by then , but still lurking. I have since retired and having some medical issues kept me quiet. My Tool Talk Forum that Liz and Josh helped me start is where I am usually. I do look in to the Facebook page often. Other life interests have kept me away from this forum a bit.

Seems like the mods are absent here. Hope that changes. Been a lurker here for a long time. It sure ain't the same as it was just two years ago. If i was paying the $25 a year here, at this point I'd be kinda pissed. (or feel like a sucker)

Re: Is it Just me ? or do any one else notice that the
I don't begrudge the $25 at all.
I buy and sell parts here without fear. Not at FB or Craigslist. FB has siphoned off lot of people, but we have real people here that we get to know. FB has every quack that woke up this morning and thinks it would be cool to have one of these trucks, not knowing how much maintenance is required. You can ask a question here and get a legitimate answer. I saw a question asked on FB and a longtime member here answered the question. The OP ignored the answer and listened to people that knew little about what they were talking about. FB will be the demise of sites like this, but us old guys will be gone by then. Just like the Model A Fords that the old guys were restoring when we were young. They were everywhere. Where did they go?

Re: Is it Just me ? or do any one else notice that the
Traditional forums are too involved for some people these days. The migration started from actual clubs and meetings, to internet forums, to facebook, now instagram, etc. Each evolution gets shorter and less involved but more "visceral". High dollar builds, flashy photos, personas, and lifestyles that aren't real.
It's heartbreaking raising kids right now I tell you. They're missing out on so much life that we used to live. They want it, they need it, it's just not available. Who knows what's next?

Re: Is it Just me ? or do any one else notice that the
If you look at my join date verses number of post it becomes obvious I am not a big poster anywhere. I have come here once a week for many years just to keep up with the Chevy crowd. I have owned dozens of 47-72 Chevy trucks over the years. facebook -oh brother! Common type post over there is "My uncle has a 72 C-20 that came from the factory with a Buick straight 8 in it. It was a special order." Then 27 people post they knew someone with that set up. I just can,t take much of Facebook truck sites.
