Re: Lots of WTB Masked for sale stuff lately by ...

Hands down the best $25 I spend all year is here, giving me access to true truck enthusiasts and serious buyers. I've been selling on here for about about 6 yrs and have had very few issues and even those weren't too bad. I do better here than Ebay.

I answer a lot of WTB ads and never even considered looking to see if the poster was a subscribed member or a freeloader, I just always figured the admins were on it. From now on I will and will report non sub. posters. The fee does seem to keep sellers and WTB'rs a little more on the up & up.

You want to know another thing I feel the "subscribe to sell" policy does for the site? I was here before and I noticed the parts board exploded into a far more active aspect of this site with far more good stuff coming out of the woodwork. It seems to have encouraged selling. It made this place one of the best places to come in search of our parts.

I stopped buying magazines years ago because all I see is monkey see monkey do trend following spawned by product sponsors and advertisers with a skim the surface level of info that is often not all accurate. You get real info here with nothing but member enthusiasm as the culprit. It's facts from experience, a large pool people feeding in, with no monetary gain involved...and there waiting for you as soon as you search or post a thread

Re: Lots of WTB Masked for sale stuff lately by ...

I use this forum for three things.
1.buying parts for my truck
2.some members have really great attitudes. Example: I'm misinformed. Since I was spanked a lot as a kid I'm not mentally all there. I ask a question whose answer seem obvious to 99% of the members. An enthusiast who sees the err of my way informs me with a little truth and we go on our merry ways. The knowledgable member has helped a new guy (yes I'm still new, I just don't have that fresh baby smell any more) and I leave better informed.
3.i search for specific information. I'm seldom successful in this aspect of the forum.
I pay for subscription. It lapses sometimes because life isn't just my truck. When I get to it I re-up. I do believe that posting a WTB or WIW or BUY/SELL should only be available to paid subscriptions. It weeds out some. I have never flagged a post or thread. It just makes sense to follow the rules so that everybody is on the same page. That being said if somebody posts a picture of their truck and I see something on it I would like to buy or even the whole truck I have in the past PMd to see if they want to part with item/truck whatever.
I have seen more sellers trying to bleed the parts board but for every one of those guys there's another member offering to help a guy out free. So I guess it's a wash. I don't enjoy Facebook or social media much but I do enjoy this forum. As far as I'm concerned my only gripe is ads. There shouldn't be any. JMHO.
Oh and the mods do a really good job. Any site with members interacting with each other needs people who watch to make sure things run smoothly. Generally, they do it for free which is amazing.
