To the current and future 700R4/4L60/4L60E swappers, a must have part to install.....

For anyone doing this swap.... a Vette servo for the trans is a definite must-have! I finally got around to installing mine this weekend, and I can't believe what a difference it makes! 1-2 shifts at WOT will bark the tires, and 3-4 is very snappy. Although this mod mostly affects the 1-2 and 3-4 shifts, I can definitely tell that the 2-3 shift are much firmer also.

These literally take 15 minutes to R&R, and take no special tools. A pry bar, a couple small screwdrivers, a c-clamp, and a pair of pliers or channel locks. It really helps if you have a helper around when putting it back together to help get the cover back on, but it can be done alone.

The servos can be bought off eBay for around $20. I got mine from Oregon Performance Transmissions off of eBay, and have bought many other trans parts from them, including a stall converter several years ago. They have good quality parts. In fact, I think the Vette servos are TransGo parts.

These can be installed easily enough while in the vehicle, but save yourself a little time and effort and do it while the trans is still on the shop floor. You won't be sorry!!

Here is a great how-to:

Same deal for anybody running a 700R4. The Corvette servo makes a very noticeable improvement in shifts.

I have done this before and it is WELL WORTH EVERY PENNY. Definate improvement over stock. Cheap too.

Yup I had one before blowing up the last 700R4. Loved it. The current tranny has a super servo! Now that one is a neck snapper!

anything simple like this for a TH350?
I plan on buying a shift kit before too long, but they're not cheap.

You can install a governor on the transmissions too. WOT will shifts will be higher. Corvettes and police cars had the option.
You can find parts at www.bulkpart.com

My 700R4 is modified to shift into OD at WOT!! I have not tried it yet. I've made it up to 110+ MPH in third gear before letting off. I'm curious at what speed it should shift into OD.

are you talking about torque converter lockup ? you cant wire od it just shifts in to od after 3ed gear but you should wire up tc lock up in 4 gear thats how i have mine and its fine cuz most of the time you arnt on throttle in 4th just cruzin but you can allway put a toggle switch inline to turn it off for those high speed runs and toggle it back on

yep, I prefer the servo over a shift kit. All of our vehicles have one. They just feel so right. My '08 silverado will bark the tires on a cold morning with the vette servo.

Corvette Serve was easy to install and did wonders for my shifts..... until I later decided to do a filter/fluid change and then the shifts went all downhill from there. A rebuild is in the works soon.

700s have governors, you can shave some weight off them to hold shifts a little longer. or you can buy aftermarket but you can grind some weight off the stock and do the same thing. IF you REALLY want it to snap into gear... put a billet super survo in it. It will knock your head threw the back glass.

Re: To the current and future 700R4/4L60/4L60E swappers, a must have part to install.

I have a question about this mod on a 4L60E. I just finished my 05 5.3L install in LowBuk and it all works great. The shifts are very smooth from gear to gear but I can feel the smallest about of slip during the transition from gear to gear. I would like it a bit tighter but I really do not want to feel any shift bang from gear to gear like I had with my built 700R4. Will this mod keep the very smooth shifts or will it have the affects of a shift kit?

Thanks for the info!

my 700 has a corvette servo as well as an actual corvette shift kit, its barked the tires going into 4th gear like twice since modding it. itll almost ALWAYS put the truck sideways shifting into 2nd and majority of the time i can bark into 3rd

Heres a video of it on a VERY WELL prepped track that nearly pulled my shoes off when walking on it

Does the vette servo effect part throttle shifts? After 15 years of my B&M shift kit shifting hard at anything over half throttle, i'm looking for a smoother shift.

I agree. My transmission guy includes the Vette servo and converter in all his 700 builds. 99% of his builds are for street rods etc.
