GMC/Chevy Hood?

I have a 1971 GMC that has a slant nose hood on it. I'm starting to get ready to paint and wanted to put a flat nose hood on it. I got a donor hood from a 1970? Chevy and test fit it, it looks like the Chevy hood is too short? What am I missing?

I could be off base here (we will find out!) but I don't think you can swap just the hood between flat nose / slant nose. You have to swap front clips also (and possibly core support).

Re: GMC/Chevy Hood?

Myron, you need a 69-72 GMC top grill trim piece. You will have to remove the painted bar that is now on top of your grill and replace it with the chrome 69-72 trim piece. Or you can get a complete 69-72 gmc grill with the trim piece already attached.

Keep the painted piece to sell, most people prefer the slanted hood.

You will also need a 69-72 GMC hood latch and grill support brace. The fenders are all the same on gmc's, but you would also have to add the fender trim pieces to make it look right.

Good luck, Rg
