Re: WTB 1968 327 prefix code correct for 4x4

I have a 327 I pulled from a 1972 K10 with 3 speed manual. I know its not original to the truck but it looked original and was stamped with something like CE on VIN. What caught my eye once removed was the plug on rear of block for the earlier PVC valve. I knew that every 350 I had seen, never had that on it. After some research at the time, I believed it to be a GM crate engine from that era. GM dealerships could use it in either a 350 setup or 327 for engine warranty replacements. Someone on here may have more knowledge of that. If your interested I can get more info for you. It's still on engine stand in my garage from when I pulled it.

Thanks, YT shows a "powerglide" for the transmission, and this truck has a sm465. Engine in the truck now has a suffix code of WA which decodes as a 307 1968 C10. Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to you too.
Now maybe my book is wrong...Chevrolet Pickup RED BOOK, it does show YT for 3 spd manual, and YX as manual trans, which I assume is 4spd.

Hard to say if my truck had a 307 or 327 originally. WI is the suffix code for a 68 m/t k10.

Where I found info-

If your truck came with a 327 it would be on the spid sheet in the glove box as a option.
