Oil filter questions??

First off I put a 235 in my 51 3100. Because of the Fenton exhaust the the oil filter unit (not sure what it's actually called) will only mount tipped back slightly toward the center of the motor. In other words it's not perfectly straight up and down. Is this an issue??

Second I noticed the hoses have a small hole in one end and the other is larger.Does it matter which way these are installed? Which direction does the oil flow go? In the side, then out the bottom??

Any insight greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Oil filter questions??

The filter does not have to be perfectly vertical, but if it is in the way, you can take it off the manifold and mount it remotely with longer hoses. I have seen a couple done this way so a modern spin-on element could be used.

The inlet is on the side of the can and the return is on the bottom. The hoses are not directional, but if one of the loose fittings is a flow restrictor with a small through hole, that fitting should go on the inlet hose.
