69 115" chassis on 50 Chevy Coupe (not truck)

I have a 50 coupe and a friend has a 69 shortbed chassis I can have for free; complete with drivetrain and steering. They both have 115" wheelbases. The 69 chassis would likely need narrowed but does anone know of anyone who has tried this (successfully)?

Re: 69 115" chassis on 50 Chevy Coupe (not truck)

Sometimes free isn't a good enough excuse to screw a nice body up by sticking it on an all wrong frame .
The tires would stick out of the fenders several inches on each side If I am not mistaken.

What is wrong with the frame that is under the body now?

If the stock frame is bad or missing I'd look at the Chevelle/ Monte Carlo sized GM cars and get the whole frame and if the floorboards were really bad I'd cut the doner's body shell off the floor pan and use floor pan and all. When Dick Dean was alive and doing the 49/51 Mercury chops and frame swaps on a regular basis he did a lot of frame and floorboard swaps using Pontiac Lemans chassis from 68 to 72 I think but there are others that work too.

Agreed free is not 1 size fits all. Looks like the mustang LL conversion is easiest. Thx.

I agree, you will be opening up a real can of worms by trying to use the truck chassis. If you are dead set on doing a chassis swap, look at an A-body instead.
