what are you guys running for front suspensions

So i did an axle swap on my 49 chevy frame. ran into the problem of mounting my shocks. ive seen set ups where they run the shocks off the front leaf spring plate but mine looks similar to this users first picture http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=140216 and my sway bar mounts same as his. Does anyone know if this is cast metal or something i could weld shock mounts to and then fab a hoop system to come off my frame for upper shock mounts. As always the help you guys provide is appreciated

Re: what are you guys running for front suspensions

You can buy new spring plates from a number of different places (offroaddesign, diy4x, partsmike, and many others) that are made from 3/8" thick steel plate. These would be much easier to work with to to make a lower shock mount. Some people use ford f250/f350 upper shock mounts. They are easy to bolt or weld right onto the side of the frame in lieu of doing full shock hoops. Personally I would weld the shock tabs further out than the spring plates. I'd weld them onto the axle tube where it meets the C.
