Actually the motor is not completely set. I still need to fab the trans crossmember. I'm actually running Doug thorley headers. I found my cab mounts were trashed and new ones allowed me to raise the rear of the tranny about an inch. I'll post a bunch of pics once I starting working on the motor. That should be real soon

The truck is now home. I think my wife is having flashbacks to when I restored my. 68 Camaro. I was a little obsessed with that car and may have put a little too much time on it
I just made a big push on the truck to get it home so I think I'll take it easy and have fun bolting stuff on a little at a time. I have almost all the parts I need. I do need to wet and and buff the paint. There is some orange peel on some places that needs some love.

Here's a shot of the motor. These aren't the prettiest but they sure run great. Probably just add back the plastic covers and clean it up. I'll post a bunch about getting this running. Expect more over the next few weeks

I love your truck, naturally. It looks just like mine. I read you had an ece drop kit. Was it a 4/6? I did a 4.5/6 and will be dropping the back another 1/2 to 1". I just need to see how it sits once all the weight is on it.
Do you have any interior pics?

Interior is out getting redone. I go look at it tomorrow at upholstery shop. All wrapped leather buddy seat.

As far as the ECE drop I asked previous owner and he wasn't exactly sure on what drop he had. Maybe you could do a wheel well measurement and let me know what you're sitting at.

Oh and LS motor is next on the list.

Here's the start of the seats. Perforated diamond tuck surrounded by non perf leather outers. Door panels are also being wrapped.

I'll post up more when done.

I've been color sanding lately and generally bolting stuff on. I've never wet sanded and buffed before but wow it makes a huge difference. Definitely worth the effort.

This build is too nice for a Mexican throw on the seat!
Very nice truck. Subscribed!

EDIT: I just noticed your AC compressor is in the stock lower position. What kind of set up did you do on the motor mounts/perches etc?

Re: Project: "Out of Retirement" 67 SWB, ls5.3

I haven't posted in forever, but thought I'd post an update on the truck. I have been driving the truck half done for the past two years. Front half painted, and the back still in primer. Finally painted the whole thing a few weeks back. Got the trim from Mar-K install and and I couldn't be happier,

First off Truck looks amazing!

Second: I have always heard that you need to paint all of the parts at one time. If I were to paint the cab then do the hood/ bed a few months later I have read on here that it would be hard to make them match? Your route is much more realistic for a DIY'r.

Please advise

Re: Project: "Out of Retirement" 67 SWB, ls5.3

Thanks everyone.
As for matching the paint. That's a tough one. I had a little problem with the paint match. The two gallons weren't exactly the same. I wish I would blended them together. I painted some test parts before I shot the entire bed and was able to get it very close. I think I am the only one that will notice that they are slightly off.
If you are shooting a metallic paint or a flat paint, I would shoot them at the same time. Those kinds of paints can be hard to match if you don't shoot them the same way and in the same temperature. I'd say I kind of rolled the dice and got lucky.
