Junkyard find, 90 3/4 suburban....

Just hated seeing this nice 90' 3/4 ton suburban at the junkyard over the weekend. Almost all panels in nice shape, blue interior was in excellent shape, and to top it off, the PO put in a 454 engine into it. 4x4, TH400, 8 lug axles, electric speedo t-case, the list goes on.....

I did grab the hood and inner fenderwell. Wanted to grab the axles too but didn't know mileage (speedo already gone).

Probably the worst was seeing such a nice truck that he probably got $500 for.

I'd be all over that if I were 6-700 miles closer. I'd snag a lot of parts for my build.

Re: Junkyard find, 90 3/4 suburba....

Guys were swarming all over it. I just popped out in the morning to "check for anything" and stumbled across that one. Looked like it just came in. Another guy was also on it and said he was going to come back with his son to get the headliner. Me too, I said.

Came back in about 2 hrs later, front radiator support gone, steering column gone, headliner gone, front bumper gone. I grabbed the hood and because the front end was gone, the inner fender was easy to take at that point.

The intake off of the 454 gone too. I thought about the axles but when the yard got it, they picked it up directly on both drivelines. Bent them both up so probably some strain on axles and t-case. Brother...

Re: Junkyard find, 90 3/4 suburba....

The days of rows Subs and Blazers even pickups are gone.
Now I go to junkyard, lucky if there is one 73-91 anything.
I can remember just few years ago walking in I saw nine 81-91 Suburbans lined up side by side. If I see something now, I just grab it for the future. May never see it again!

Same here. Just a few years ago I used to go just to "window shop", see what was there that I might could use. Now there's nothing. Like turning a faucet off.
