No brake/tail lights...HELP!

Hello guys...
Went down a bumpy ass road the other day and then noticed the next morning that I did not have any brake lights or tail lights. I have blinkers/flashers, but no tail lights/brake lights... Any suggestions?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Always check the ground wires first ,seams to be a common issue .

Re: No brake/tail lights...HELP!

It is weird because I also tried to turn my dome light on which was working and now it isn't working either..I looked at the online wiring diagram and see that the dome light also shows to be coming from what I believe to be the brake light switch under the brake light pedal..wondering if this could be it..guess it wont hurt to replace it..what do you think?

Re: No brake/tail lights...HELP!

Check the stop/tail fuse in the fuse panel. Also check the connectors for the fuse.

The orange wire from the panel is powered by a red wire from the engine harness through this fuse.

This orange wire then powers the brake light switch and the dome light switch.
It also runs to the headlight switch where it powers the brown taillight wire.

The turn signal wires use the same wires and filaments as the brake light so your problem is not with the wiring in the rear or the grounds.
Notice the yellow and dark green wires in the diagram below. They are the brake/turn light wires. You can also see the orange and white wires that go to the dome light.

These harnesses are getting "Crispy" or very brittle with age. The long harness (four wire ribbon)that goes from the firewall back to the rear of the bed is exposed to a lot of the elements, and cracking due to vibration/bumps, suspension travel, ETC.
I'd look at doing a continuity check between the firewall plug back to the rear of the bed to make sure you have no breaks in the harness.
