Has anyone converted from leaf spring to coil over? if so what did you think and is it worth it?

I am considering the same thing. Four link set ups are pretty cheap, and this set up would also let me relocate (center) the rear end on my 50. WOuld also let me tune the ride height withour messing around with 65 year old springs

Don't think the cost would be that much more than figuring how to do it with the leaf set up

For all the above reasons, but I wouldn't consider it unless the front was done with M2 or GM clip or such. Requires some work and even more if you're making power. My biggest reason, in addition to above, was my fat tire fetish.

The Heidts 4 link kit is $686 at summit. The instructions say that you have to remove the rear axle. If I am going to remove the stock 57 rear axle I want to replace it with an axle for a 5 bolt 15" chevy wheel and a differential with better gears (I have a 284 approx gear ratio now) and posi traction. Where do I get that?

I wasn't planning on running a wide tire a 235 70 15 is what's on there now I'm ok with that, the truck is pretty rough underneath, I was just kicking the idea around on what direction I should go

I'm OCD and cannot be trusted. There are a couple of spring companies that make new softer leaves for our trucks. IMO, that would be a cheaper/easier way to go for a truck you're not going to get whacko over. I used Art Morrison 4 link. Very well engineered but pricey. I liked the tube diameter for the BBC I'm using.

i am not going with gobs of power. planning on a MII front, and lowering the rear. The four bar would eliminate lowering blocks and pulling leaves, etc

I have a second gen camaro front subframe in it already, it has a 350 crate motor in it that runs real good but doesn't have tons of horsepower

Check welders series site, they are Canadian so your US dollar will go further as well. All sorts of brackets and bars etc.
