Funny how folks can differ so on a thing. But, that's what makes us people. It's all good.
I long for the road. I feel like it's in my blood. As far as parts runs go, they have become a thing I have to do every so often for an excuse to get out of dodge. I never thought of these trucks as a hobby, more like a part of my life. But, if they are a hobby or life style, I see running for parts as part of the hobby/life style. You've got people who have one very nice truck with it's own spot in the garage to others who can't find enough ground for the one they found this week. Some can't be havin' a spare part laying around, others don't feel comfortable w/o a stash... whether they'll use any or not. I've always been willing to go outside my local market for vehicles and parts, whether I do the transportation or pay and stay home.

Last year I drove from Alaska down to Reno Nevada and back approximately 5200 miles to pick up a 1932 Ford 3 window coupe body.

Re: What is the farthest you have driven for a part?

Just short of 500 miles from Whitesboro Tx to Kansas City Mo for some wheels for my son’s truck. Got them from board member Kcsa75. Bill held them for us as we had business in KC. Had a good trip and the best part was making a new friend.

Re: What is the farthest you have driven for a part?

Back in 1999, I ran my '71 Jimmy from Tucson AZ to buy a K/5 windshield frame from Jerry Moss in Brentwood Ca. About 1512 miles RT as the crow flies, but there were side trips to Chinatown SF to buy some Blazer hatch hardware, as well as staying at my buddy's friends' place in Livermore. Vaguely remember something about a wedding reception. [Not mine.]

Re: What is the farthest you have driven for a part?

Well, I am in South Dakota.
My cab was picked up in Pahrump, NV (60 miles outside Las Vegas). So there is 1125 miles. But, I kind of cheated, I was spending my Winter in Las Vegas, so I was already there and just brought it back.
And while in Bakersfield, Cali for the Vintage Drag Races I drove to Early Classic Ent in Fresno to buy some parts. Does that count?

Re: What is the farthest you have driven for a part?

A 10 hour round trip just to look at a truck, ended up buying and the guy meet me half way a few days later when I picked it up.

Re: What is the farthest you have driven for a part?

I forgot. I once drove 300 mi.. RT to see a bed liner, about 21 years ago. It was thrashed, but Chevyland was nearby and I bought a grille set-up. Think I paid $200 for the entire thing. GM OEM.

It worked out......."Bed liner", WTH?
