Re: Interior colors

Probably have pictures what are you thinking of colorwise? A 70 GMC brochure would probably help too. Black, blue, med. green, red, sandelwood, olive green all come to mind off the top of my head.

Re: Interior colors

I have Parchment (I think) now. Kind of wondering if there was a color close to that. Don't want to get wrong color.
Thankls

Re: Interior colors

Sorry I missed your post. Do you have the color code on the SPID and is that the color you want? Problems arise with sales names, trade names and common usage names``are not alway the same color.
So if you have a spid and a sample interior please post it.

Re: Interior colors

Husker,Just a note here but,the original interior colors were not that well matched. The difference in materials and dye lots did not match well.I have seen some of the same on repo but it seems at least as good or better.Just something to remember when shopping for these items.

Re: Interior colors

yep, I'd call that close enough for government work. A little sun fade and nobody will know the difference. Any reason you switched from Gold Custom Cloth to Parchment? Both look good, just curious.

Re: Interior colors

The sandalwood/light gold/ivory is not the same as the later 71 parchment/white color or like the 72 Highlanders have. Here is a full on 625 gold vinyl and a pair of pictures of a 623 gold custom cloth. Finally a 71 626 parchment/white door panel for comparsion and a 72 Highlander as well. Most of the repro parts tend to the white side or are outright wrong like white dash pads.

Re: Interior colors

Jocko, Custom gold I beleive is the color of the seat. I did not change to Parchment. My interior is the same as the truck pictured above. I thought I wanted Black and have decided to keep it original.
I have bucket seats that are covered in black and visors and 1 arm rest in black and am going back to Parchment.
My trucks interior should be exactly like the one pictured.
I purchased from board visor, arm rest and mirror cover in Parchment but they seem to be a lot lighter in color, but I suppose it could be sun exposure and what not.

Re: Interior colors

Gold is one of those non-reproduced colors, unfortunately. Gold is really a creamy tan between Sandalwood (tan) and Parchment (off white). There were also Parchment interiors in '70. Sandalwood is the color of dash pads, columns, and steering wheels in Parchment interiors. I am not 100% sure that the Sandlwood and Gold steering wheels are different. As mentioned, colors varied from piece to piece anyway. I may still have gold sunvisors, but didn't realize till they were up against Parchment.

Not understanding something. How can you go back to parchmeent if it was gold? The parchment is a lighter color. Are far as parts bleaching the parchment tends to darken not lighten with age.

Here is a brochure clip showing the gold buckets if that is how you are going in what appears to be a 526 med gold poly truck..

Re: Interior colors

Not really close at all. My visors were dusty and dirty and I thought they were Parchment. Once I cleaned them they were obviously not. Gold is a very nice light yellowish tan or cream. I want to call it banana color for some reason.

Re: Interior colors

yep, understand gold and parchment are quite different. wasn't sure what your current stuff was in the original posts. as Tim mentioned, gold not re-pro'ed, so that's what I was saying about the parchment armrests with gold interior (i.e. what your door panels are now) - the parchment armrests look "good enough" because the gold isn't available. I do really like the gold interior though - I suppose if you want it perfect, you could scrounge for some oem on here. Someone's gotta have some in at least avg condition.

Re: Interior colors

Vinyl dyes have come a long way. I'd take a good piece to a paint supplier and have some dye made up.

I believe the Gold interiors used Sandalwood for the steering wheel, column, and dash pad, just as Parchment did.

For 1970 interior trim codes 622-623-624- 625

The steering wheel is Dark Sandalwood Ditzler #23374

The dash forward of the pad is Flat Dark Sandalwood Ditzler #23375

The dash pad itself would need to be dyed to match the Dark Sandalwood steering wheel color.

The door panels, arm rests, headliner, visors and seat vinyl are Sandalwood and should match Ditzler #23373 (that is the paint code for the base metal door trim panels).

Ron, Not trying to point out the obvious but you have a pretty good idea of the difference there in your hand. The panel behind and the backside of the mounted armrest are going to be a real good samples to match to.

Re: Interior colors

I appreciate all the help (tremendous amount) all have offered. I will check into the dye. Should have a good non sun drenched peice under the armrest or backside.

Big mike my Buckets not for sale.

Thanks

Re: Interior colors

What's confusing here is calling the Gold pieces, such as seats, visors, door panels Sandalwood. There was never a Sandalwood interior offered. Sandalwood is the color of the steering wheels, columns, and dash pads with a Parchment or Gold interior. It is darker than either of those two colors. It is a definitive tan where Parchment is an off white and Gold is a cream.
