First post to the site, but I've been poking around for a couple months now. Finally found the perfect truck for me and can't wait to get started on the frame off restoration of this beauty. I've never done one before so I'm sure you're all snickerin right now. Just thought I'd introduce myself as I'm sure I'll be needin some help along the way. Thanks in advance.

Re: 1970 c/k 10

Thanks. Been waiting a long time to get my hands on one of these.. Trucks in excellant shape, surface rust only. Not even a dent in the bed, must have had a camper on it or something. Frame still has some of the original paint on it. Man I can't wait to dig in, i'm finishing up a restoration on a 1978 AMF Slick Craft boat so when I'm done with that I'll dig in.

Re: 1970 c/k 10

That looks like a pretty good candidate just to freshen up the mechanicals and drive! It also looks like it's pretty much stock at the moment? What plans do you have for the restoration? What changes do you plan to make?

Nice Job. Sweet truck, looks like you put a ton of work into it. I'm pretty much planning on what it looks like you did. Taking it down to the frame and restoring to stock condition. Probably upgrade to disc brakes, change the color, and go with a rally wheel, and of course AC, but thats about it.

Ok I'm jealous, please don't change that color. I love that Yellow, and I'm not a big fan of Yellow. But you don't see it that often, and it looks great.

Nice truck, and welcome, and good luck with the resto. Lot's of help here.

And keep the gun racks. Too cool.

Re: 1970 c/k 10

Welcome! Cool to see the P01 wheel covers still on the truck. If you don't mind me asking, what's the size tires your currently have on the truck?

Thx,
Tony

Nice K/10 you have there. I vote keep it as great as it's been for 45 years. These trucks were done right and whatever color they came is the perfect color for them. Color changes were so '80s

Thank you for the kind words! Yes, it was a lot of work. More than I anticipated, to be sure. It was 8 years from the time I turned the first wrench on deconstruction, until I drove it the first time.

Not to say it would take you that long, just that it took me that long, and it was difficult at times to keep going.

I love your plans for the truck, and I look forward to watching your progress. If you decide to do a build thread, I will definitely want to subscribe! My best piece of advice is to take a million pictures before ever you begin.Take pictures of everything, from every angle, and take pictures as you're removing parts. I took hundreds, and still had areas that I didn't get good pictures of.

By the time you get to putting it back together, you won't remember how it all went, and the pictures are invaluable then.

Good luck with your build, and congratulations on a fine truck to start with!

Re: 1970 c/k 10

I fall under the if it's not broke then why fix it category.
That trucks looks road ready too me.
Fix the safety items and make the wheels go round and round.

Oh yhea, I'm in the don't change the color club too.
The classic colors fit these trucks too well.and that's a combo you don't see often.

My kids 67 is originally yellow, I wanted too make it yellow again but the kid wanted all black....so its done.

Re: 1970 c/k 10

WOW. What a welcome. Thanks for all the advice, and after thinking about it and looking at a few trucks in that color I'm going to leave it the original color. Soon as I get started I'll start a build thread. Probably in a month, gotta get the boat out of the way.
