69 C10 stepside trans/drive shaft questions

I recently traded for this 69 C10 short stepside and it came without a trans and driveshaft. I picked up 2 700R4's recently and was considering putting one behind the I6 as had been suggested previously. The questions being:
1-Driveshaft length. Has anyone done something of a similar configuration? Would you have dimensions for the driveshaft?
2-A 700R4 behind an I6. Will that pair up correctly? Will I need to modify anything to make this work?
3-Future considerations. I don't plan to keep the I6 in the truck forever. I would like to keep it as simple as possible for a later swap. What I have in mind is a 350/TH350, or possibly a 383/TH350. What are your thoughts on this?

And again thanks in advance for any help!

Re: 69 C10 stepside trans/drive shaft questions

I have a 67 with a 355/350 combo. I don’t care for the 350 trans. 3:73 gears and at 70 mph I’m at 3200 rpm. I’m looking to get rid of the 350 and find a better tranny with overdrive. You have the 700, so putting that behind the 350/383 would be better since it has overdrive. Keep in mind that the crowd is split on the 700 being a reliable tranny, especially when compared to the 350.

Re: 69 C10 stepside trans/drive shaft questions

Due to all of the variables like coils or leafs, lowering, yoke lengths, shortened frames and such I would recommend measuring your particular truck and having the drive line built to your truck. Look into the TV cable options before committing to the 700r4 with the I6. It maybe expensive in view of your long term plans

Re: 69 C10 stepside trans/drive shaft questions

I also have a 69 stepwise with a 250 and a 3 speed automatic. I have rebuilt a 292 to install along with a 200R-4. The 200R-4 is the same length as the current trans, just need to slide the mount back therefore you can also use the same driveshaft. This will give us a 4-speed overdrive and better mileage.
