Whats up guys.. working on my 76.. I am wanting to do a good coolant flush. ive used the blue bottle before but not really impressed with it.. Ive been reading about using staright vinegar and CLR in the system to get all the crud out.. anybody here have any experience with that or can give me some advice.. much appreciated

CLR doesn't do anything to the hard water stains in my bath tub. Good luck with that. Sweet truck though.

Ive used it before in my bathroom.. it seems to do pretty good..

CLR works great on the hard water stains in my bath tub. You should have good results with that. Nice truck btw.

I managed to eat a hole in my trans cooler with a flush. What a mess!!! Ruined the transmission.

I actually have never bothered flushing a cooling system. I have never seen a sbc cooling system that was clogged. I have seen radiators with lots of corrosion. I just watch the temps and if it won't stay cool I will change the radiator.

The best way(for me) is to remove the 2 block plugs and flush it out as good as possible.
All the sludge settles in the bottom rails of the block and insulates it from the cooling system.
The heater core holds sediment also.
If you have a freeze plug out,there's another good chance to flush it out.
This sludge is why machine shops boil blocks,along with getting the oil galleries clean too.
