Correcting steering with lift.

Hey guys a little over a year ago I found a lifted 69 chevy 4wd truck on craiglist for 500 bucks.

So I went and bought it like an idiot.I than tore my original 69 chevy c-10 apart so I could do a body swap.

As I tore more into the project I realized what I had was biggo mess.Someone has taken a 74 front and rear 4wd suspension and axles and mounted it all up to a 2 wheel drive frame. They did a terrible job and I've spent the last month fixin there mistakes.

The truck has a 4 inch rancho suspension lift. And it looks like it has stock steering setup. What I am needing to know is what is the best way to correct the steering angle on drag link.

I've noticed these drag links that are angled.I was wondering about the strength of these.

Or would it be better to get a dropped pitman arm.

Thanks for any advice

With 4" all you need is a raised steering arm.

yup, get a raised steering arm, or a drop pitman arm, dropped draglink is neccesary for 8" lift & bigger. biggest prob. with a dropped draglink is re-centering steering wheel (unless you dont want your signals self canceling)

Re: Correcting steering with lift.

Thanks for the advice guys.I am gonna get a dropped pitman arm.I tried to remove the steering arm yesterday and it seemed pretty stuck on the there.

I hope to get some pics up of the transformation. It's gonna be sweet when it's done.My 69 is a pretty solid body.So when I get the chassis and driveline sorted out.I am gonna have a heck of a truck!

i was going to mention that. pitman WAAAY easier to change.on my s.arm i heated the bejesus out of the nuts, borrowed buddy & buddy's 3/4 ratchet with a 3 foot breaker. i yanked while he slammed the bar with a 9lb sledge. it was a tuff fight, we both lost skin

Re: Correcting steering with lift.

not to high-jack this thread but a question. doe the drag link have to be parallel, say pitman arm to steering arm? front to back. my steering arm is long and i have another pitman thats longer than a stock chevy (the funny bend one) this would give me total turning.
