So I want to go to 1 tons from my k10
What axles, will basically be the most bolt up? What axles would take a lil fabbing? (Welding grinding) <-- (Don't have a lot of experience but have friends with welders), most cost efficient? and what should I be looking for!? Any help would be awesome guys thanks!

Re: So I want to go to 1 tons from my k10
all you need is a matching set of differentials from a 1 ton truck a dana 60 front and gm 14 bolt 10.5 full floating rearend both with the same gear ratio, they are both a straight bolt in you will need to modify your drive shafts.an even better way to do this is get the front and rear diffs. and the np205 transfer case and the drive shafts from a 1 ton truck.this way every thing just bolts in and I added the transfer case because if you really need
1 ton gear the chain driven np203 or np208 in the 1/2 ton will not hold up.the np205 is gear driven and almost indestructable.

Re: So I want to go to 1 tons from my k10
The spring perches on the rear of 1 ton axles will have to be rewelded because their are closer together, than if you simply sourced 14 bolt FF from a 3/4 ton, which is a direct bolt in. The front driveshaft u-joint is the same whether you have 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, or 1 ton. You can get from your local parts store a conversion u-joint where the crosses are different sizes. That's what i did to my truck. You can keep your 1/2 driveshafts with this set up. If you plan on installing a 6" lift than you will need custom driveshafts, but if you get a 4" or less lift, you can get away with the stock ones.
If you have any other questions just ask. |

If you have a 12 bolt rear end now then you can use your current driveshaft with a conversion U-jount with a FF14. But if you are going to use a semi-floating 14 bolt then you will need to shouten your rear driveshaft.
