Any 1 owner 67/72 trucks here?!

Just wondering how many 1 owner or still in the family 67/72 TRUCKS here? My FATHER gave his 69/k10 to me one CHRISTMAS, so I am the second since it was new. I like the simplicity, no computer, fix it yourself features of these 67/72 TRUCKS. Thanks to this FORUM and EVERY ONE for the information found here. YOU ALL MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE!

Re: Any 1 owner 67/72 trucks here?!

My Grandfather bought mine new in 1972, in Midland, Texas. It's been in the family since. My father got it when my grandfather passed, and now I have it. It's been about 8 years in restoration at this point. Getting really close.

Re: Any 1 owner 67/72 trucks here?!

I've been on this forum a long time, and I haven't seen many "Hey, I'm the original owner" posts. There's a lot of guys that have bought or were given their trucks from the original owner.

I've met a lot of original muscle or pony car owners. I guess people tended to hang on to their cool HS or first cars then their work truck?

What about FirstOwner69? I don't remember him claiming it but I got the impression he might be the original owner of his truck... or at least of some truck, maybe he doesn't still have it. But I"d start there...

Correct! My wife and I bought the truck new at Barton's Chevrolet in Yorba Linda, CA, as a left over '69 on Nov 21, 1969. I was 24 years old. We still have it with about 119,500 miles. It was rarely driven starting about 1980 when we bought a '79 Blazer and pretty much stored in our garage starting in 1987 when we bought a '86 dually 4x4 crew cab. I restored it with some updates from 2010-2013 and have all the paperwork since new and a record of virtually every gallon of gas consumed.

The only pictures taken soon after delivery are with the, also new, camper mounted. The first one below was taken the first week of December, 1969, at a campground near Big Bear Lake in in the mountains above San Bernardino. The second picture was taken in 2014. We still have the camper as shown on our latest truck in the third picture, but it hasn't been used since 2000.

Jim

Re: Any 1 owner 67/72 trucks here?!

Someone from the western states has a 71 or 72 short 4x4 that he bought new. I can't remember his name but, he's put a lot of miles on it (500,000- if I remember correctly) & had a ton of adventures in it. Hopefully he will see this thread

Re: Any 1 owner 67/72 trucks here?!

I'm the 2nd owner of my 71, I bought it from my dad 18 years ago.
He ordered it, flew across the country to pick it up right from the factory final-assembly collection lot, then drove it the 2000+ miles home and it's been within eyesight of a member of my family every day since.

To me, it's part of the family, and ALWAYS will be.
