Need help wiper motor 67 c20

Hello from AZ

Need expert here, Iím down to the wire and completely out of ideas here. This truck has been built from ground up but cannot get wipers to work.

From my understanding the wiper switch are ground wires but in photo u can see they are hot? Do I simply place wiper switch in its spot to ground properly or is there something bigger going on?

This is my final step for complete rebuild and itís driving me crazy. Any help will be greatly appreachiated. Also the wiring on wiper motor is good to go yellow hot and blue/black are speeds.

Just canít finger out switch the wipers are not working and has power to them.
Thanks
Van Leer

I believe the answer to that is yes, put the wiper switch in its spot and make sure the threads and nut of the wiper switch mounting make good ground contact on bare metal of the dash. Then try it.

When the switch is not grounded and the switch is on, you should see some voltage on the switch shell, because the current is going from the battery positive, into the wiper motor and through the motor windings, and coming out of the terminals that go to the switch. That voltage is looking for a ground path in order to complete the circuit for the motor to run.

Re: Need help wiper motor 67 c20

Thanks for the info, I will give it a shot. I just wanted to make sure I didnít short anything before placing in spot.

I have to rewire the wipers switch to right. I got an afternarket dash because old one was done. As u may know the wiper switch on 67 dash was on left as in first pic. I now have one on right so pig tail/ wire plug in wonít reach.

Iíll give it a shot a see what happens thanks

Re: Need help wiper motor 67 c20

Thank u for the guidence they work as they should except one problem.

When they go to resting place they go to far down actually come onto metal portion of cowl.

1st photo is current resting place.

2nd photo is my 67 Impala in proper resting place for wiper.

How do I get my truck to do the same without going onto cowl?

I tried to have wiper arm move more on splines to go higher on window(still goes to same resting place)
Any help will be much appreaciated.
Thanks

I think the answer is remove the wiper arm from the spline shaft, run the wiper motor for a few seconds and turn it off and wait for it to park, then put the wiper arm back on with it positioned where you want it to park.

Success, u were correct again!

Thank you for your help. This ole gal is finally all done! Here’s a link to a video I made with walk around a drive.

Sorry everyone for my beginner questions on wiper blades. My brain just stopped working. My buddy and I have worked on this truck for 5 yrs and I hit that mental wall and just couldn’t figure the most simplest things out.

Thanks again, see u on the road!
