Talking Lets see pics of the Aluminum Rally wheels

I like the looks of the aluminum rally wheels for our trucks. I have noticed that you really don't see them any more as much as the steel rally wheels. I will kick it off with my 1984 4x4 Silverado.

Re: Lets see pics of the Aluminum Rally wheels

I'm not sure the use of the word "rally" with the aluminum wheels is quite correct.

Nonetheless - you are right - people were always coming up to me and asking where I got those wheels, not realizing they were factory.

My only disappointment is that they were 7" wide, whereas the steel rally could be had in an 8" width.

Re: Lets see pics of the Aluminum Rally wheels

I stand to be corrected. You are right I have people thinking my wheels are aftermarket wheels but when I tell them they are factory originals they cant remember seeing the aluminum wheels. Always get compliments on them.

Re: Lets see pics of the Aluminum Rally wheels

My brother bought a brand new GMC in 1981 and it came with those wheels on it. I remember looking at the sticker in the glove box, and they were referred to as forged aluminum wheels. I thought they looked great, but were a little skinny.

There was a forged version, and then we followed up with a cast version (same design appearance but as a cost savings).

I chose those wheels when I ordered my '80 pickup, shown above. I also chose those wheels when I ordered my '86 Suburban company vehicle. By the time I ordered my '87 pickup I was getting stodgy and conservative, so I ordered it with the steel rally wheels.

I have 5 and 6 lug versions of these. You are right, they aren't seen very often. I really like them though.

Yup. RPO PH7 for the forged wheel; RPO N90 was the cast wheel.

So PH7 was forged aluminum, and N90 was cast aluminum? How to tell the difference without knowing original RPO? I got mine out of the back forty of a tire shop....always thought they were the same.

Look at the back side of the wheel. Forgings have thick parting lines and castings have thin parting lines.
