Re: SANFORD build thread

Thanks guys,lolife99 it is to the driver side,I did not center the r&p housing, the rack It has a 2 1/2 turn lock to lock,I centered it between left and right and tried to center the outer tie rod swivel which is under the boot, however I did manage to get it to the driver side about a 1/2 to far,I know It should be exactly centered but I am going to check the bumpsteer when I do the alignment,if things do not work out Speedway motors has a set of offset mounting bushings that I will use to move it.Time will tell but honestly for a cruiser I dont think I will notice any difference except maybe turning radius.Hope this makes sense. Thanks for looking guys.

Re: SANFORD build thread

update,I have just about everything finished in the rear,I was able to set my pinion angle and then I installed my lower bag mounts.I had to move the upper bag mounts in order to get the truck to sit where I wanted it to.I also braced everything up pretty good because I will be doing a little bit of towing with this thing,I got the shocks mounted as well.I am pretty much finished with the fabrication on the rear suspension just a little bit of final welding when I strip it down to paint it.I also re-purposed the factory bump stops so if it does bottom out it hopefully will not damage anything.Name: mr holder racecar 032.jpg

Re: SANFORD build thread

Just a small update,I have been working on some loose ends and one of those was getting the steering shaft made which in itself was not that hard however modifying the motor mount was a major PIA.I spent most of today doing that and re-enforcing the mounting tab on the trans mount.I also shortened my drive shaft so I will send it out to have balanced.I still have to make the upper shock mounts and then on to the exhaust.Name: sanford 002.jpg

Re: SANFORD build thread

this is what the shaft looks like and the motor mount mods complete,in some of my previous posts it was pointed out that my rack wasnt centered in the frame,I knew it was to the drivers side a little but after checking it with the crossmember in the frame rail it was off more than I thought so I cut it out and re-positioned it,so this was a screw up on my part but now is the time to fix it.That is how it goes sometimes and thanks for pointing that out. Thanks guys for looking. Re: SANFORD build thread

Just a small update.I am just about done with all the heavy fabrication,I still have a few things like front shock mounts, front sway bar ,trans linkage and so on.I still have to finish modifying the trailing arm crossmember and get the rear brake assemblies on and route the parking cables.I will blow this thing in the near future and paint the chassis and other components etc.thanks for looking.Thought I would trow a few pics of it together one last time before paint.Name: sanford10.jpg

Re: SANFORD build thread

Thanks guys,VA72C10 it does appear it is hitting, but it is not.also this is at full drop and there is at the closest point about 3/8 clearance so I dont think there will be any problems.I have had this thing together and apart about 3 or 4 times to check for any unforseen problems.Hopefully this is the last time as I am about to lose a little steam on this project.Wife and I have made reservations for power tour next June so I better get on the ball.Thaks again.
