Yes, it does look pretty sweet. Yours looks pretty damn nice too though. I still need to put the radius piece on to finish it but I wanted to get the blower fan hole all smoothed out first.

Re: 72 Suburban Build

What did you decide to do with the brake/booster m/c? I would go with a nice chrome, it would match your setup and look great.

I'm going to look at some stuff tonight and decide. Someone posted a nice billet one with a smaller diameter booster that I am leaning towards now. I'm also going to look into the frame mounted one to see how much work that would be.

Re: 72 Suburban Build

I had talked to Justin at Scotts hot rod about the frame mounted one. Being that we are so low to the ground he was not sure with out modding the floor.

Re: 72 Suburban Build

I'm so tired of ordering parts, being told they would be here in 1/2/3 weeks, calling a week after promised delivery, AND THEY STILL HAVEN'T BUILT IT!! Its so f-ing annoying!!! This is about the 3rd time this has happened in the last 2 months.

That would probably suck! I don't mind if it takes 4 weeks to get the stuff together but don't tell me its gonna take 2 weeks. Thats my main gripe.

I don't think it is. The guy I talked to said they usually weld up a little frame to mount it to. This way there are no bolts going through the firewall and the firewall doesn't flex at all. I'll post pics up when I put it together.

Re: 72 Suburban Build

Spent most of the time getting rid of useless wires and smoothing out the firewall. I still have some finishing touches to put on it but it looks good so far.

Re: 72 Suburban Build

Are you going to have to use an electric wiper motor? Do you have to eliminate anything to fit it in?

Not sure. I saw someone on here put one in and talked about eliminating the wiper motor but when I talked to the guy at Scotts Hot Rods he said you don't have to remove anything so we'll see. I'll put pictures up when I do it.

Re: 72 Suburban Build

Let me know how it goes. Justin over at Scotts knows his stuff. I would like to do one of these I just have not seen one on our trucks. I've seen it on other models.

Post Re: 72 Suburban Build

Well I finally figured out how the heck to raise the floor on my suburban. I've been looking and looking through other builds but there isn't many drop member ed suburbans out there to get ideas from. Instead of doing a round rear fender I decided to make a couple frames per side and box it in with sheet metal. My dad flew out from California to help me with it. He's the one working on one of the fender frames. I'm going to move the filler next into the side of the tank so I can use the factory filler next location. I'll post more pics as it progresses.

Re: 72 Suburban Build

wow you took your entire wood floor out!! LOL. I was trying to keep my rear most part in so that I can build my raised over it and make a storage compartment out of it. Does that make any sense?
Truck is looking killer dude, keep it up.

Re: 72 Suburban Build

Oh I am interested to see how you are going to do the filler neck for the fuel. I used my factory tank just mounted it on top of frame. I think the angle of the neck to the tank on my set up is going to be too sharp on my set up.
